I am getting married tomorrow!
I haven’t posted on tumblr in a long time. Too busy, ain’t nobody got time for that. But tumblr was one of few things I enjoyed in the summer of 2011. I was hospitalized for over two weeks in April of that year, and was dealing with depression that had socially cut myself off from the rest of the world. Unrelated to the hospitalization, I started having terrible pain in one of my kidneys and wrote a tumblr post regarding the situation, my family history of polycystic kidney disease, and how I feared having to go back to the hospital.
Jennifer (PrettyKoolDame) [future wife to be] happened to search for PKD posts looking for anyone in the community due to having the disease herself. She came across my post, sending well wishes and offering any help she could offer if I ever wanted to talk about it. Shy and anxious about talking to people, I didn’t think much of it. Following her posts, I ended up wishing her a happy birthday a few weeks later, and we started sending messages back and forth through tumblr. She suggested it would be easier to chat through Skype, and a few days later, I gained the courage to add her.
At this point we had already stalked each others blogs and had gotten to know each other well. When we finally overcame the idea of awkwardness in talking to a stranger, we started a video call. Although we acted as new acquaintances, it was love at first sight for both of us, which we admitted in the next couple days. Five days after that birthday of hers, we decided to be in a relationship together. A long distance relationship of 3000 miles. Over the following year, we overcame a few obstacles, got the chance to meet up twice, and knew that we wanted to live with each other and be together in reality. I already proposed to her a couple months after first talking, without even having met in person. I knew that she was my soulmate, and we balanced together perfectly.
Come April of 2012 we moved in together, while I was finishing my last year of college. After living together for almost 2 years, and ready to continue onward to the next stages of our journey together, we have decided to get married. We already knew from the start that we would be together forever, and have felt married in our hearts already. But tomorrow we are making it official on paper, and owe it all to tumblr! We wanted to let the tumblr world to know that we managed to come together and now get married after me making a blog post and my soon to be wife deciding to send a friendly message - not through anon! We owe our relationship to tumblr, and love how it brought us together. We love you all! God bless!
And I love you Jennifer Neal! Forever and Always <3

Us goobers recently:
THEY ARE ALL OKAY, and all those things could exist in THE SAME WOMAN. Women shouldn’t be valued because we are strong, or kick-ass, but because we are people. So don’t focus on writing characters who are strong. Write characters who are people. —madlori
Modeled on this post. This quote needed a gifset that featured a more diverse group women. Because my takeaway from Lori’s marvelous answer (seriously, go read all of it) is that representation matters and that great female characters do not—and should not—fit into the same cookie cutter mold. Because actual women are not one size fits all. And the irony of having that message cross my dash repeatedly with exclusively young, white, straight, cis women who match a prescriptive definition of beauty was getting to me.
